Journal of Petroleum Geology - Guest Editor

July 2023 \\ Paper

A real pleasure to have been invited to be a guest editor for the Journal of Geology and the thematic issue on the Zechstein. Working alongsideGiancarlo Rizzi,Jo GarlandandChristopher Tiratsoo. The issue contains eight fantastic papers on the subject from across the Permian Basin including our own paper on the MNSH.

This issue was dedicated to the early pioneers, trailblazers and visionaries of the Zechstein play in the UK, both on and offshore. Multiple charismatic, influential, and often radical academics and professionals have long postulated about the Zechstein play potential. Without these early manuscripts and optimism, we wouldn’t be here today.

May 2020 \\ Licence Rnd

Croatia has announced the 1st Onshore Geothermal Licnence Round in The Area with 4 blocks up for grabs Ernestinovo, Lunjkovec-Kutnjak, Legrad-1 and Merhatovec with a total area of 207 km2.

The potential of exploration areas has been identified in earlier wells drilled for oil and gas exploration and production, which  greatly reduces the risk and costs to future geothermal operators.

Slick Slicks - An Exploration Tool In Mature Areas?

August 2019 \\ Article

Slicks can be indicative of a working subsurface hydrocarbon system, mature for oil generation. They can directly reduce exploration risk in undrilled basins, underexplored areas, and areas where a lack of well data precludes confident identification of source rock distribution, or where there is uncertainty in modeling source rock maturity. But what about using sea surface slicks in areas of well-proven and mature hydrocarbon provinces? Can they add value to the exploration workflow?

PannEx reviews numerous case studies and examples to see if slicks work as an exploration tool in high-level proven areas around the world.
